In 2003, Guangdong had issued a plan to construct 7 rail lines to connect main cities and towns in Pearl River Delta area. And on July 6th, the provincial government held a meeting on expanding the lines to connect all the counties of the 9 cities of Pearl River Delta.
\r\nVice Governor Huang Longyun of Guangdong said the new plan was made under the Province’s decision to speed up infrastructure improvement so as to extend Pearl River Delta’s economic radiation to all around the province.
\r\nAccording to the new plan, the rail lines will be 2.5 times longer than the previous planned ones, about 2000 km. And the lines will be extended to cover other regions of the province in long-term plan.
